About My Practice

I help children, teens, and families who are struggling with emotions, behavior, and school stress find practical ways to cope, communicate, and succeed. My background is rooted in school‑based and community mental health, which means I understand how academic, family, and social demands interact and affect a young person’s well‑being. I work collaboratively with students, caregivers, and school staff to create concrete, realistic goals that improve functioning at home, in school, and in the community.

I offer individual and family therapy, with experience in anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, crisis intervention, and emotional regulation. I regularly use behavioral strategies, psychoeducation, and strengths‑based, goal‑oriented approaches to support students’ academic attainment and social‑emotional growth. When needed, I help families access additional community resources and make referrals to other providers to support comprehensive care.

My Background

I have provided mental health counseling to children and adolescents in school settings through roles as a Mental Health Therapist and School‑Based Clinician. In these roles, I have completed CANS assessments, formulated diagnoses, facilitated educational workshops, and offered individual and family therapy, crisis intervention, and emotional support. I have managed large caseloads, while coordinating referrals and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community providers.

In addition to clinical work, I have served as a Case Manager within public schools, supporting students with IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). I have assisted special education teachers, counselors, and transition staff, monitored student behavior closely, and implemented strategies tailored to each student’s needs. My work includes helping students access curriculum through verbal support, prompting, redirection, and modeling, as well as maintaining strong communication among students, families, and school staff.

Earlier in my career, I worked as a Referral Specialist and Academic Counselor in college settings, where I supported first‑generation and diverse students in navigating educational pathways, developing academic plans, and accessing adult basic education and college success resources. My internships in community agencies and adolescent programs gave me additional experience in direct services, small group work, advocacy, and case management with at‑risk youth and families.

How I Work With You

In our first sessions, we will clarify your concerns, identify strengths, and set specific goals for therapy. I focus on creating a supportive, structured environment where young people feel heard and respected, and where caregivers are included as partners in change. Depending on your needs, I may integrate behavior modification, coping skills training, psychoeducation, and family communication work.

I also value collaboration with schools and other providers (with your consent) to ensure that the strategies we develop in therapy are reinforced across settings. My aim is to help children and teens build the skills they need to manage emotions, improve behavior, and feel more confident in their daily lives—while supporting families in navigating systems and advocating for their child’s needs.
