Owner/ Clinical Supervisor

Dr. Jose Valentin, PhD, MSIOP, LPC, LMHC

I am a fully bilingual (English/Spanish) outpatient mental health provider with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PhD), licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Connecticut and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts. I provide individual, family, group, and couples therapy for children, adolescents, adults, veterans, and older adults struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD and childhood trauma, psychosis and schizophrenia, addiction and substance use disorders, ADHD and behavioral problems, anger, relationship conflict, and life transitions. My practice focuses on helping clients reduce symptoms, improve coping skills, and build healthier, more meaningful lives.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and evidence-based. I draw from psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), multimodal therapy, play therapy, narrative and expressive therapies, motivational interviewing, and existential/humanistic approaches. I take a holistic, biopsychosocial view of each person—considering mind, body, relationships, culture, and environment—to understand psychological triggers, emotional distress, and behavioral patterns, and to design a clear, collaborative treatment plan with short- and long-term goals.

In addition to psychotherapy, I have extensive training and experience in psychological testing, including psychoeducational, neuropsychological, and personality assessments. These evaluations help clarify diagnoses such as learning disorders, ADHD, cognitive difficulties, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, and personality patterns, and provide concrete recommendations for treatment, school supports (IEP/504), and workplace or community accommodations. I frequently work with complex presentations involving health psychology concerns, chronic medical issues, somatic symptoms, and the emotional impact of illness and pain.

I have practiced in outpatient clinics, hospital-based programs, community mental health agencies, and interdisciplinary treatment teams since 2012 under the supervision and mentorship of licensed clinical psychologists, and I completed my PhD in 2017. My background includes crisis intervention, risk assessment, addiction counseling, and intensive work with trauma survivors, including veterans and individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. I am comfortable collaborating with psychiatrists, primary care providers, schools, and community resources to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care.

In our work together, we will begin by clarifying your concerns, reviewing relevant history, and identifying specific, realistic goals. From there, I offer a structured, supportive, and insight-oriented space where you can feel safe exploring difficult experiences while also learning practical tools for emotional regulation, stress management, communication, and boundary setting. I value cultural humility and provide services in both English and Spanish to make therapy accessible and welcoming to diverse individuals and families. If you are looking for a bilingual psychologist who can combine in-depth assessment with integrative, goal-focused psychotherapy, I would be honored to support you on your healing and growth journey.
